Advocate turned minister again in defence of his another valued colleague

While Special CBI court on Thursday allowed Janata Party leader and complainant Subrahmanian Swamy to lead evidence against home minister P Chidambaram to prove his alleged complicity in the 2G spectrum allocation scam and while the matter is still to be heard by special CBI court on December 17,Advocate turned cabinet minister has jumped the gun in the defence of his colleague. Today, the minister held a press conference to say that the government rejected all the allegations against Home Minister, then finance minister at the time of spectrum allocation. He said that Chidambaram as a finance minister was in no way responsible for issue of Letter of Intent by telecom ministry then headed by A Raja in January 2008. He said no official of the finance ministry, including the then finance minister, had committed any "irregularity or misconduct" in the spectrum allocation."People in NDA are trying to malign and defame his colleague.We reject all allegations against him in the 2G scam. Chidambaram is a valued colleague.

Is the Minister not pre-judging an issue, which is before the Honurable court of special CBI Judge and matter is due to be heard on December 17?

It is really very unfortunate that the lawyer turned minister is always trying to use his lawyer-acumen in public domain to defend his colleagues and then pronounce the verdict exonerating them from all the culpability.He should know that while the matter is still before the Honourable court, why he is pronouncing his judgment in support of his valuable colleague?

Earlier also, related to 2G scam charges against his ex-colleague A Raja, he had held the press conference and by giving lawyer like arguments in support of his client, he defended allegations(still before the Honourable Court) against his ex-colleague A Raja and then pronounced the judgment that charges of 1.76 lacs of crores of revenue loss(as assessed by a constitutional body like CAG) were wrong and in fact there was zero revenue loss caused by his another valuable colleague A Raja.While pronouncing this verdict he forgot to explain that if there was no revenue loss why his govt had put Raja in jail?

It is really very irresponsible of the minister. It seems that even as a minister he doesn’t seem to forget his profession as an Advocate when it comes to defending his colleagues for charges of corruption against them.

He should know that as a Minister,he is holding a public office and in that capacity he is responsible to uphold and protect public interest rather than interest of his client in the court of law by misinterpreting the finer legal points and case laws in favour of his client.The minister is in the habit of doing it time and again.it is really very unfortunate and shameful.
